where Tradition meets the future

Natural Wines From The Alentejo, For The Planet

Breaking The Rules

We honour tradition but our approach to making wine is unique.

We are a group of family & friends, Portuguese and Irish; a fraternity with a passion for producing small batch, quality wines. We use traditional tools to produce the wine but each grape variety is put into it’s own Talha or Amphora. We then blend the different wines to produce our signature small batch Talha style.

Small batch, hand harvested & crushed grapes.

Winemaking

We make small batch natural wines from hand harvested & crushed grapes. This process reduces damage to grapes and improves the quality of fermentation process with the naturally occurring malolactic bacteria present on the fruit and the indigenous wild and natural yeasts.

Using centuries old talhas / amphoras just as the Romans did , our wine is made with limited intervention, zero-industrial processing, no commercial enzymes or nutrients – not to a pre-determined recipe but blended based on taste from our single varietal fermentation process. We produce oak barrel aged wines which adds complementary flavour notes to our red wines unique to Talha Maifa Wines.

From our traditional farming and wine making methods to our packaging choice, we are committed to our community and our planet.
